This is a particularly difficult issue. The sum insured must be sufficient to rebuild the property in the event of an insured event – a fire, for example – and it must allow for site clearance, architects’ fees and VAT, amongst other things.

We are utilising the services of Internet Surveys Ltd – who have access to the latest digital mapping software together with their extensive database of rebuilding costs for every type of property construction in the UK. Their advanced state of the art mapping technology is underpinned by the U.K.’s most reputable data providers such as Ordnance Survey and Land Registry.
In order to provide the most accurate valuations ISL undertake extensive research of each property which may include Local Authority planning records and RICS building data.
Using this data and the digital mapping software they are able to calculate the external footprint of the property to provide the reinstatement sum insured to take into account the construction of the property, location, additional facilities, access and debris removal.
This valuation is available from £300 including VAT – a far cheaper alternative to the usual fees for this service.
