Local Council - Frequently Asked Questions
Who are Ansvar Insurance?
Ansvar Insurance, a business division of Ecclesiastical Insurance Office plc, is a general insurer dedicated to working in partnership with insurance intermediaries providing tailored solutions to a variety of not-for-profit organisations who make a positive contribution to society.
The company was established in 1932 in Sweden, expanding into the UK in 1959. The word Ansvar is Swedish for ‘responsibility’ and its socially responsible ethos has been at the heart of the organisation. With its roots from within the Temperance Movement this has been the catalyst for the development of specialist commercial policies for the not-for-profit sector – charities, churches, voluntary groups and connected individuals who subscribe to a "responsible" lifestyle.
Part of a dynamic UK financial services group, Ansvar Insurance continues to pursue both an ethical investment and trading policy which precludes dealings with organisations who are predominantly involved in tobacco, alcohol, gaming and armaments. One national daily newspaper described Ansvar as a "commercial organisation with a social concern".
Ansvar's aim is to be the leading insurer for the not-for-profit sector providing innovative insurance solutions and excellent personal service.
Do I have to sign up for 3 years?
There is no obligation to take cover for more than 12 months but a 3 year Long Term Undertaking entitles you to a substantial discount. What is more, insurers guarantee that they will not increase the premium rate during the period other than to allow for index-linking of the sums insured or adjustments requested by you. Should you make a claim, both you and the insurers are released from the Undertaking.
Do Norris & Fisher charge fees?
No fees are charged on our Local Council policies.
