Contractors' 'All Risks' Insurance
The principal purpose of a Contractors’ “All Risks” Insurance is to provide cover on buildings which are being erected.
It is usually arranged by builders on properties that they are constructing. In simple terms, if the property was half-built but then suffered a fire, the policy would pay for the cost of demolishing the remaining structure and rebuilding it to the same point.
Insurance can be arranged either for one-off contracts or on an annual basis.
Various additional covers are provided by a Contractors’ All Risks policy, including:
- Temporary buildings on site
- Plant and tools belonging to the builder
- Employees’ tools
- Hired-in plant
Policies will usually be subject to an excess of £250.00.
